Binaries

For people too lazy to compile the source (or for source I've neglected and allowed to get out of sync with crblib), I'm gathering some binaries.

All binaries are for Pentium machines on Win32, unless otherwise indicated.

imdiff

• Perceptual image difference utility and chart maker.

• imdiff (zip,360k) ; for Win32

cbsaver

• Very simple picture viewer screen saver; all transitions smooth, gamma correct, etc. goodness. Very good for TV's, not really recommended for high resolution desktops.

• cbsaver (zip,120k) ; for Win32

DeUnicode

• Change Unicode names to "A" code page windows names. Works on dir names & the files inside recursively.

MakePlayLists

• Makes M3U playlists by recursive scanning a dir of MP3's. Can either put playlist in the mp3 heirarchy or output to a different dir. I just run this every time I get new music.

Tuner

• Realtime Guitar Tuner app + sound playground. Get a mic and throw away that crystal tuner. See readme.txt & blog for more info.

ImDoub

• Doubles image dimensions with good filtering. This is a half-done research project I was working on and abandoned. The predictive mode is semi-broken but the basic filter modes all work.

BmpUtil

• bmputil does crops, concats, sizes and views bmps, jpgs, and tgas. Very handy for batch file / wildcard coordinate-based image edits. Nov 2007.

WinMove

• winmove moves & sizes windows by command line arguments. Useful with hot key managers. Jan 26, 2006.

MapParser

• MapParser reads a .MAP file generate by MSVC and outputs a text file with all the symbols sorted by size. Small, fast. Released 10-11-04.

cbwave

• cbwave is the fast wavelet image coder from WaveVideo. In grayscale mode on a K7 it can use as little as 50 cycles per pixel!! Released 12-30-99.

• cbWave 0.6 (zip,49k) ; for Win32; does bmp and 'raw' files in & out, also views

WaveVideo

• WaveVideo test executables released Nov. 3, 1999 (update 12-30). The real appeal here is a super-fast wavelet image coder. Using the Haar wavelet transform, I get about 30 fps on a 256x256 (without display) on my 300 MHz K6 (or around 150 clocks/pel). (I use lots of floats, so fewer clock cycles are used on a P3 or K7 with a better FPU).

• WaveVideo 0.6 (zip,60k) ; the viewer, for Win32 with DirectDraw. View fullscreen, or in a window; import & export 'raw' 24bit BGR video streams. (new 12-30-99 : does bmp sequences in & out; not compatible with alpha version 0.5)

Compressors

• PPMZ v9.1 (zip,60k) The grand-daddy of modern markov coders. Beware large memory swapping. Use the ppz batches like an archiver.

• PPMZ2 (31k) alpha test executable

• PPMZ for DOS-4GW (zip,76k) You must have the dos4gw loader stub yourself; (it came with lots of old games, so check that out). read about the source

• WaveCode v1.7 (Zip,141k) read about the source

• LZP 1-3 Implementations (Zip,500k) read about the source

Miscellaneous

• testdd (zip,91k) new Mar 2008 ; smooth controller/lerper test

• neardd (zip,89k) new Dec 2007 ; nearest neighbor drawing test

• floatdd (zip,53k) new Nov 2007 ; floating point 2d drawing test.

• cpu utils (zip,37k) CPUinfo and CacheSize : two programs that'll tell you what you've got in the box if you forget (or someone tries to pull the wool over your eyes). Take them on a floppy when you go shopping. CacheSize also gives you actual delays for accessing various parts of memory (L1 vs L2 vs main memory).

• wax (zip,33k) The melted Wax procedural I wrote for genesis. I've put a little directdraw wrapper around it so you can see it standalone. Molto Bella. (added sperm to the wax for laughs)

  Don't forget to use the key commands in all these ddraw apps, that's what makes them fun.

• gel (zip,480k) A little ddraw image rippler. (now does spherical ripples by default). Both gel and wax are just little fast int rasterizers at their core.

• linedemo (zip,34k) Another ddraw demo. Features a pixel-perfect fast Bezier curve drawer and an antialiased line-drawer. Adds a little fizics for fun; very amusing to watch

• bezier demo (zip,33k) Another ddraw demo. Features a pixel-perfect fast Bezier curve drawer & whole-frame smoother; interactive, purty.

• noise demo (zip,33k) Another ddraw demo. Several example of things you can do with fBm ("turbulence") noise.

• physics demo (zip,42k) Another ddraw demo. 2d Physics Demo ; very fun to play with. Put a chain of masses on springs and watch the waves propagate. Damn, I am just cranking out the 2d graphics demos! One a day...

• physics demo 2 (zip,45k) Now the objects collide against eachother; molto difficult, very beautiful. Turn gravity on and off, get them stuck under eachother and whatnot..

• palBMP v1.0 (zip,33k) A palettizer. Uses a very good oct-tree pruning method, and also contains a very fast color mapper. Check out the source

• plot (25k,zip) an interactive plotter for Win95 (zoom,scroll,etc. on 2-d data or 2-d vector field data). It reads text files of points, which you can also modify with my ChukSH utils, evalfile and whatnot.
